Section Secretary

Wauna La-Mon'tay Lodge

Ryo is an Eagle Scout and Brotherhood member of Wauna La-Mon’tay Lodge and is serving as the section secretary for a second term. Previously, Ryo has served as chapter administrative vice chief, NYLT staff, and SPL for the 2019 World Jamboree. Ryo has attended NYLT and the National Leadership Seminar. 

Before COVID-19, Ryo spent most of his free time doing robotics. Since COVID-19, he has been spending time focusing on school, Scouting and work. 

What is a fun fact about yourself?
“I was a Scout since I was 5, and I did most of Scouting in Japan. I joined the BSA in 2015.”

What are your educational goals?
“I attend Oregon State University studying mechanical engineering with a computer science major. I’m hoping to do robotics and controls in grad school.

What are some of your personal goals?
I want to do a better job of balancing my life between school and Scouting this year.”

What do you hope to accomplish in your position this year?
“I want to assist Dirk as well as the CVCs and each of the lodge officers to achieve high performing lodge status. As secretary, I want to make sure we have strong communication between each of our lodges and that the section officers are working closely with lodge officers.”

What is your favorite Scouting memory? 
“Going to the World Scout Jamboree and OA Trail Crew back-to-back with Dirk in the summer of 2019.”
